Co-founder, co-owner & manager of Digital Analog Radio, Jimmy Phingaz is from Washington DC - a true uptown product. A music lover first and foremost, his personal journey into music took off early due to musicians in his family. The journey began with R&B, jazz and hip-hop. However it was at the University of Pittsburgh where radio and DJ culture would become fixtures in his life.
In the fall of 1994 Jimmy was introduced to the University of Pittsburgh radio station (WPTS-FM) by a college buddy and never looked back. He quickly learned the ropes at the station and had a show on-air by winter 94. From that first show the love for radio & DJ culture was present and has continually grown.
During Jimmy's college years he held the position of training director, program director and station manager of WPTS- FM. During his tenure as station manager, he also received an accommodation for student activities excellence from the Chancellor's office and the vice Chancellor student affairs - all of this taking place why he was still growing skill-wise as a DJ.
In moving back to Washington DC after graduation from the University of Pittsburgh Jimmy found himself djin' regularly rather quickly:
Due to his reputation and peer recommendation Jimmy was sought after and brought on as the station manager to a new internet radio station. However, different philosophies on operations led to him leaving that opportunity. But the information gained and the work put in sparked the interest to start his own - leading to the creation of Digital Analog Radio which was launched January 2020.
Today Jimmy Phingaz still spins, but primarily on Sundays from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. on his radio station. His focus is to solidify Digital Analog Radio as a quality black owned & DJ ran media platform.
